About Us
In the fall of 1952 Grace Memorial Baptist Church was started. The young church worked hard and gave sacrificially, and God blessed their efforts by establishing a strong gospel witness that still shines brightly in Bedford County, Virginia. The church started with 26 members and today we continue to have impact in Bedford County. GMBC has had four pastors in the 52 years of its existence. Pastor Ralph Norwood was the founding pastor and served from 1952-1958. Pastor Elwood McQuaid served the next four years from 1958-1962, and then Pastor Howard K. Talley faithfully served for 38 years as pastor from 1962-2000. From 2000 to the present, Pastor Greg Rogers has served as pastor.
GMBC adopted as its motto, “A Friendly Place to Grow in Grace”. Many who have visited have given testimony to the genuine friendliness of its people.
We give thanks to the LORD for all He has done here at Grace Memorial Baptist Church and we want all the glory to go to HIM, for we know that without HIM we could do nothing. [John 15:5]
All those involved here at GMBC have learned that 2 Corinthians 9:8 is absolutely true; And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: and we look forward to “every good work” that He will do in and through us till He returns for us.
